The name ZEISS is world renowned in the world of measurement and precise instrument manufacture; whether it is computer controlled coordinate measuring machines, the latest time keeping technology or world famous lenses, ZEISS has earned its reputation as a world leader.

The firm was founded by Carl Zeiss in Jena in the early 1900's and by 1861 he had created a company that was producing some of the best scientific instruments in Germany. The firm was broken up after the Second World War but after German reunification was restructured and the company has continued to enhance its reputation for precision engineering.

The Metrology division of ZEISS has a range of products that specialises in industrial measurement and computer and software solutions for industrial and engineering concerns. This encompasses the automotive, aviation and medical industries and firms such as GM, Volkswagen, Bosch, Jamco Aerospace and Augusta Westland use Zeiss Metrology to develop and produce precision equipment and products. That means that ZEISS are helping to manufacture products that keep the world moving and keep it healthy as well. The company offers coordinate measuring machines, a range of software measurement solutions, a huge range of sensors both optical, contact and active scanning as well as a range of accessories to enhance and complement their whole product range.

Currently ZEISS employs over 2000 workers over four sites in Germany, China, India and USA. The company is always developing and in 2012 turnover figures were near to 500 Million Euro.
